 Neil Byrne, a prisoner convicted of the gruesome slaughter of his wife and child, jumps off a speeding train and escapes into the night, leaving behind a paperback novel.


Byrne is forced undercover in Manchester, taking on former acquaintances of a ruthless organised crime syndicate and evading capture by the mob.

A deadly game ensues involving gangster's daughter Annie (Julie Aubrey) and crime godfather Palmer.

As the significance of the missing paperback becomes clear, Byrne's protested innocence seems an irrelevance - he and his pursuers may be just expendable pawns in a chilling battle to protect deeper, darker secrets.........
