Sean Bean as Jason Locke
Essex Boys (2000)
|
Essex boys is
inspired by a real incident from December 1995. Three
drug barons where found murdered, shot at point-blank
range, in a Landrover on a deserted country road in
Rettendon, Essex. They were waiting for contacts, in the
hope of setting up a major drugs deal. Although Essex Boys is inspired by this real life event, the characters and events portrayed in the film are fictitious. However, the film realistically reflects the sinister, and frequently violent tones of the British underworld. Jason Locke (Sean Bean) has just finished a five year stretch and he more than a score to settle. Driving round his old haunts, he soon discovers that his friends and enemies have got rich in his absence. Feeling betrayed and determined to get back on top, Jason instigates a power stuggle. Whoever is in control of security at the nightclubs in Southend also controls the sale of illegal drugs. This is how Jason intends to secure himself and his long suffering wife, Lisa (Alex Kingston) a lot more respect. |
